SWEDISH CLIMATE LINKS

The climate issue is a top priority of the The Swedish Government's environmental work. The climate policy in Sweden, like the other EU Member States, aim at reducing emissions, increasing the efficiency of energy use and increasing the proportion of renewable energy.

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency is the national agency for environmental protection and nature conservation as well as outdoor recreation and hunting issues. Its key tasks are to present proposals for environmental policy and legislation to the Swedish Government and ensure that environmental policy decisions are implemented.

NORWEGIAN CLIMATE LINKS

The Norwegian Polar Institute is Norway's central institution for research, environmental monitoring and mapping of the Polar regions. The Institute is the Norwegian authorities' consultant and supplier of knowledge, and contributes to the best possible administration of Norwegian polar areas.

The Norwegian Pollution Control Authority (SFT) is a government agency with 300 employees and is based in Oslo. They report to the Ministry of Environment. SFT works for a future free from pollution. They implement government pollution policy, and they are guides, guardians and a driving force for a better environment. Their most important fields of work include climate, hazardous substances, water and the marine environment, waste management, air quality and noise.

State of the Environment Norway aims to provide you with the latest information about the state and development of the environment. The service presents environmental topics in a simple and easy-to-follow way and provides access to more detailed scientific presentations. On most of the pages you will also find further information about legislation and international agreements, environmental targets, references and relevant links. In addition you may download the latest data sets.

The Directorate for Nature Management is the national governmental body for preserving Norway's natural environment. The directorate serves as an advisory and executive agency under the Norwegian Ministry of Environment.

The Norwegian government established CICERO – the Center for International Climate and Environmental Research – Oslo – by royal decree in 1990. CICERO is an independent research center associated with the University of Oslo. CICERO conducts research on and provides information and expert advice about national and international issues related to climate change and climate policy.

INTERNATIONAL CLIMATE LINKS

ClimateWise is the collaborative insurance initiative through which members aim to work together to respond to the myriad risks and opportunities of climate change.

The CEA is the European insurance and reinsurance federation. As stated by the EC, Climate change poses a double challenge: we must not only make deep cuts in its greenhouse gas emissions (mitigation) but also take measures to adapt to current and future climate change in order to lessen the adverse impacts of global warming on people, the economy and the environment (Adaptation).
